Dear Friends,
Welcome to Lochaber Music Festival 2024. I am delighted to present the syllabus to you. Please do share it with anyone you know who might be interested in participating or coming along to hear the performances. We welcome the participation of individuals and groups in Lochaber.
The most exciting festival news this year is that we celebrate our 50th Anniversary, but we are also delighted to take another step closer to a full, live music festival - only the country dancing has yet to return to our syllabus.
Within the syllabus, you will find all the information you require in order to enter the classes. Please study the rules carefully. It is very important that you note the closing date for entries, which is Wednesday 31st January 2024. The Programme must be prepared immediately after the closing date, and we would be grateful if you could submit your entries, using Play & Perform, as early as possible.
The Young Musician of the Year competition, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Lochaber, is separate from the festival itself, but is run at the same time – please consider entering where your talent allows!
We are always grateful to those of you who decide to become members or patrons of Lochaber Music Festival, many of you giving financial support year on year. If you are not already a member, why not join now? You will receive a programme and season ticket (valid for most competitions) through the post, and we will send you the syllabus automatically next year. That form can be found here in the syllabus, too.
I look forward to receiving all of your entries soon – and to welcoming you to the festival in March! Thank you ALL for your continued support.
Finally, please note that Lochaber Schools’ Pipe Band have generously offered to sponsor all LMF 2024 chanter and bagpipe competitions, so there is no charge to enter any of these competitions – simply complete the entry form at Play & Perform. Thank you so much to Lochaber Schools’ Pipe Band – we are delighted to receive your financial support this year.
Yours sincerely,
Catherine I. Cameron
